Ian Peart
I am a retired IT professional with almost 30 years experience working with organisations in creating and analysing maps and spatial information – frequently referred to as Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
My initial exposure to GIS was while working for Northumbria Police in the early 1990’s. I subsequently led on the implementation of GIS during my 5 years working for Newcastle City Council. During this time I worked with most of the Council departments in enhancing their service delivery through the use of GIS.
I subsequently worked for 23 years at Esri UK, supporting clients from numerous business sectors including Central and Local Government, Policing and Security, Renewable Energy, Environmental Protection, Education and Property Management. I spent a significant amount of time working with a number of planning departments and possibly most significantly, I was lead for CAPS Solutions (a sister company of Esri UK), in delivering a planning system for the Northern Ireland government.
Engaging with staff at all levels within these organisations was something that I found particularly enjoyable and rewarding.
As a grandfather, I am passionate about my family and the Environment. Fundamentally I am extremely proud of Consett where I have lived for almost 20 years.
